The Rosary Journals Chapter 2

The Rosary Journals Chapter 2

Week 1 In the program (Week 1 starts Jan. 11 2016)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Miguel begins to write in his journal:

The construct of the program is just like the real world, like the world I live in. I can hear the birds chirping. I can see the blue clouds. I can feel my face. I can smell the flowers. I taste the water. I look the same here, as I did in my world. I see people walking. I see people talking to one another. Cars drive up and down the road. Airplanes fly above my head. I see houses and buildings. I see insects and animals. It looks just like the real world. I miss Father Martin.  As I sit under this tree and write, I’m still trying to figure out what happened at SURC. What was going on before I entered the program? What did Karey mean when she told me to learn the construct of the program so that we can know more about ours? I hope she or someone else is monitoring my performance. I have ten weeks to earn 40 credits. If I don’t earn 40 credits at the end of the ten weeks, I will be sent to Poksairy 3. I need to get my life packet. I will need it to fit in. I’m afraid. I’m scared of failing. I’m afraid of not being able to leave the program. I guess it would be better to stay here in fail than to go back to the real world and be shipped to Poksairy 3. They started sending all persons that broke the law to the planet Poksairy 3, ten years ago. Some people that break the law get a chance to redeem themselves by entering the program and earning credits. I was supposed to be the first. I hope I can do enough good deeds here to earn 40 credits. Where should I start? Where should I go? Why has God forsaken me? January 11th, 2016 1:26 pm

Miguel walks down the road looking at the scenery. He is amazed at how everything looks the same in the program.  He enters the Post Office. He approaches the counter and says “Hello my name is Miguel Ramos. I’m here to pick up a package.” “I’ve never seen you in here before Mr. Ramos.” “Do you have your ID?”, the postal lady asks. “No ma’am my ID is inside the package. I lost my wallet one week ago at a basketball game. My wallet had all my personal identification in it.” Well, I’m not supposed to give you any mail without getting some form of identification. Can you tell me where the package came from?” “The package will be from SURC,” replied Miguel. “What is SURC?” Miguel didn’t know how to respond to the question, being SURC (Simulated Universe Research Center) is only located in the real world. “It stands for Survivors of United Republic Czechoslovakia.” “You’re from Czechoslovakia with a Hispanic name?” “No ma’am I just happen to be a volunteer in the country for many years. That’s why you’ve never seen me around these parts. They assisted me and obtained my personal information,” explains Miguel. “Well, I guess, since you lived halfway around the world and you’re a volunteer, I trust you.” Miguel gets the package, walks outside and immediately opens it. Inside the package is his life packet. It contains a social security card. A birth certificate. A drivers license. A set of car keys and keys to a house, with the address engraved on the key. A credit card. Last, a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge cell phone. He turns the phone on. The phone comes on, and there is a picture of Miguel with his face next to an alien face.

The mobile GPS guides Miguel directly to his house. In the driveway is a white Jeep Wrangler, just like the kind he has in the real world. He enters the small brick home. The home is two bedrooms 1200 SQ foot. He quickly runs to the refrigerator. He opens the refrigerator door and to his surprise, everything he likes to eat is in the frig. He makes him a turkey sandwich with sour cream potato chips and heads over to the couch. He turns on the television. All the channels are the same. The FOX news anchors look just like the anchors back home. Miguel watches the news and can not believe the violence he sees taking place within the program. He begins to tear up. People are fighting for religious rights. People are dying of hunger. Men are transforming into women. Politicians are being sent away to prison for emblazonment. Global warming is affecting the poles. Scientist and Theologians are debating about the existence of God. He continued to scroll through the channels and stumbled upon an interesting discussion. The discussion is “Do We Live in a Simulation?” The panel consists of physicists, cosmologists, computer programmers, theologians, and philosophers. “If you make an argument that we live in a simulation, then you must make the argument that the simulation requires a programmer. That would be a god or God,” says the physicist. “Please, let us not get into the god debate. There is no God,” says the cosmologist. “Can you be so sure that one, we don’t live in a simulation and two there is no God?” ask the computer programmer. “No, I can’t honestly say that we don’t live in a simulation. I also can’t say for sure that a god exists. However, I can say that based on things we can observe and measure, I see no signs for either of the two. Both topics are complete nonsense. This is the kind of garbage that you philosophers sit around and talk about. You guys have sat around and spoke of the two subjects for eons and yet you still have no shred of the evidence,” says the cosmologist. “I must say you are right. However, just like us, the physicist still can not tell us where the laws of physics came from. You guys tell us how those laws work and interact, but you don’t tell of the origins. Example, the physicist will say C came from B. Then, they say B came from A. What the philosophers want to know is how did ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRXTUVWXYZ come into existence and what’s the purpose for its existence”, says the philosopher. “I can enlighten all you. The Bible gives us a detailed picture of how things became to be. Not only does the Bible tell us how things came to be it explains those things for everyone to understand. Not just a few so-called brainiacs. The Bible also describes in detail how we should live in His creation. We can see that when we break His laws, things within His creation begin to break down. So yes, you can say we live in a simulation. A simulation created by God. The program was perfect until we humans made one wrong choice. When we made that wrong choice, a virus entered the program. I like to refer that virus to the word sin,” says the theologian. Miguel turns off the television. He goes to the bathroom to take a shower. After exiting the shower, he heads to his bedroom. He sees the Rosary on the end table beside the Bible. He gets on his knees and begins to pray; Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Amen. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Laying here in my bed this beautiful morning, I wonder if the consciousness within the program will figure out they exist in our simulation? Watching that debate yesterday on television, makes me wonder. I wonder why we made the simulation a replica of our world? Everything here is the same. The only difference here is how they treat one another. At one point in time in history, we were violent. There was a time when we, the majority shifted away from the belief in God. When that happened, things began to break down, and the world appeared to be coming to a violent end. One day after seven years of hell, a message was uploaded on Facebook from somewhere from someone or something. The message told everyone to pray to God for the end of havoc on Earth. People all over the world prayed for seven days. After seven days, things begin to change for the good. Prayer worked. In since then, we have changed our evil ways. Therefore, I will put my trust in the Lord. The Lord will give me strength in time of weakness. The Lord will give me light when I am in the dark. Thanks be to God. January 12th, 2016 7:33 am

Miguel got in his car and began driving. Miguel loved cruising around town in his Jeep Wrangler with the top down back in the real world. He went looking for places to volunteer his time. He knew he only had ten weeks to get the 40 credits he needed. While he was driving, he spots a church. He pulls in the parking lot. The church also has a school. The church and school name are Holy Cross. Miguel steps out of the white Jeep and goes inside the church. “Hello, can I help you?” “Yes ma’am, is there someone available that I can talk to about volunteering at Holy Cross?” “Well, what kind of volunteering did you have in mind? We have several spots we need to fill for volunteers.  We need someone to help with maintenance. We need volunteers for our aftercare program. Mrs. Dougherty needs some help in the kitchen to pass out food. Our athletic director is always on the lookout for coaches.” “Coaches, what kind of coaches?” asked Miguel. “You know, coaches for sports,” replied the secretary. “Well I like to run, and I like sports. Is he or she available to talk?” “Of course, if you go back out of the door you came in and take a left, you will see our gym. Go to the gym and ask for Carmen Cook.” “Thank you so much for your help!”

Miguel walks to the gym. When he enters the gym, he sees kids running around all over the place. “Excuse me, little buddy, where can I find Carmen?” Miguel asked the little kid with blue lips, muddy shoes, and stick in his hand. The young man had a smile that would brighten anyone’s day. “Who are you?” asked the child. “I’m Miguel.” “What do you want with my Mrs. Cook?” “Oh, she belongs to you?” “Yes, she belongs to me and not to you!” “Ok, Ok, I just want to talk to her about being a coach.” “Awesome, we need a coach! Follow me, sir.” They walked to the other side of the gym. They approached a blue door. The door was closed. The kid kicked the door three times and yelled, “Mrs. Cook, some new coach is here to see you!” “Come in please,” Carmen said. “Hello Carmen Cook, my name is Miguel Ramos.” “Nice to meet you, sir. How can I help you?” Asked Carmen. “He wants to be a coach!” yelled the kid. “Adam, go back to PE class.” “Yes, ma’am. But hire this guy he looks cool.” “Bye, Adam. So, you want to be a coach, I assume?” “Yes, ma’am. I’m looking to be of any assistance you might need here at Holy Cross,” Miguel responded. “Well, you could not have come at a better time. I need a 1st and 2nd-grade basketball coach and a 3rd and 4th-grade track coach.” “When can I start?” asked Miguel. “Today!”

After two hours of talking with Carmen, Miguel leaves the school feeling accomplished. He decides to go to the local library to research how to be an effective basketball and track coach for children. He is amazed at all the titles of the books. The books are exact replicas of the books in his world. The books even have the same authors. He finds four books about coaching and proceeds to read them. “Hey, you thinking about being a coach?”, a man asks. “Yeah, I’m going to be a volunteer coach at Holy Cross,” Miguel replied. “Holy Cross? That’s where my kids go. My name is John Hampton. My two boys go there! They are in the 2nd and 3rd-grade.” “Well, what a coincidence that I run into a parent directly after accepting the positions! Do either of the boys participate in sports?” asks Miguel. “Yes, Brandon plays basketball and Jacob run track.” “Well, it looks like I’ll be coaching your kids.” “How about that,” says John. “So what’s your name?” asked John. “I’m Miguel Ramos.” “So Miguel, where are you from?” “I’m from a place far away. I place very far away.”

The night is dark. Miguel’s house is quiet. His bed is nice and cozy. He pulls his rosary out and begins to pray; Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Amen. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Miguel begins to write in his journal:

In three days we have player evaluations at Holy Cross. Carmen is very excited about me coaching. She said she was basically looking for a first-year track coach. Back in the real world I never coached, but I did do a lot of running. I am nervous. I wonder how the kids will treat me. I wonder what the parents will say about an unknown man coaching their children. I hope Karey is watching my performance in the program. I hope I can earn enough credits. This is the third day inside of the program. I had a dream last night. In the dream my world, the real world came to an abrupt end. A strange form of higher intelligence invaded our world and ended it. I wonder if watching War of the Worlds last night had anything to do with my dream. I also can’t help but wonder what happened at SURC. I hope I’m not stuck in the program forever. To take my mind off of things, I will go to the local mission and volunteer. I know they could use my help. Everything about this world scares me. I will put my faith in the Lord. The Lord will guide me along this journey. The Lord is always with us; rather we are in a program our not. The Lord has control of all programs because the Lord is the creator of all things. Thanks be to God.  January 13th, 2016 6:53 am

Miguel gets in his jeep and heads to the mission. He turns on the radio in searches for music to play. Most of the music on the radio stations have violent and sexual content. The musicians sing about selling addictive and harmful drugs. They rap about shooting people. The yell about fornicating with many different women. Back in the real world, the music of that nature had been banned. The ban came shortly after the worldwide prayer, after the anonymous message was uploaded on Facebook. Finally, after turning to several different negative stations, he comes across the radio station We Love. We Love plays Christian music. The music is inspiring and uplifting. Miguel turns the volume up and sings along, as he drives down the street. He knows all the lyrics because the same songs are played on the radio station in his world. The closer he gets to the mission the more homeless people he sees. He remembers when his world had a severe issue with the homeless. Greed, corruption, laziness and the selfish nature of man helped create a society filled with homeless people. All that changed after the worldwide prayer. Miguel parks his jeep and walks toward the mission. He opens the door and is greeted by a well-dressed white male. “Hello sir, you must be Miguel?” “Yes sir that’s me.” “We are so glad to have your help at the mission. My name is Joseph Cantor.”  “I’m glad to help, and it’s nice to meet you, Mr. Cantor.” ” Just call me Joseph.” “If you will follow me will get you started.” The two walk to the back where the kitchen is located. “Ok Miguel, all you’ll be doing is preparing plates for the people coming through the line. Please try to put an equal amount of food on each plate. We don’t want anyone at the mission to think we are showing favoritism.” “Mr. Cantor, after I’m finished serving everyone, will it be ok if I sit down and eat with some of the people?” asked Miguel. “I think they would like that.” Hours pass and Miguel is finished passing out food. He gathers some of the leftover food and prepares himself a plate. He looks around the cafeteria for a place to sit down and eat. He sees a young lady and her son eating alone. He walks over and says ” Do the two of you mind if I eat with you?” “Sure,” the young lady says. “My name is Miguel Ramos; it’s nice to meet you.” “Hello Mr. Ramos, I’m Harmony, and this is my son Malachi.” “Hello Malachi, how’s your food sir?” asked Miguel. “It’s ok. I’m just blessed to be able to have a meal today,” Malachi says. “Harmony, if you don’t mind me asking, how long have you and your son been homeless?” “No, I don’t mind you asking at all. We’ve been homeless ever since my husband was locked up for beating a man half to death after a man beat one of the kids he coached over a basketball game.” “You are kidding me,” Miguel said. “No, I’m not kidding at all. My husband was a business owner and a volunteer coach at the time of his incarceration. I was a homemaker and did not have a job. Malachi went to the private school my husband volunteered at. When they locked him up, we lost everything. My husband has a 20-year sentence.” Harmony says with her head down as tears run down her eyes. “The reason I said you were kidding was that; I got in trouble by the law for the same thing,” Miguel says looking at Harmony in disbelief.

Miguel begins to write in his journal:

Today, I volunteered at the mission. It was sad to see all the homeless people. I wonder how many credits I will earn for today’s work. I met three people today. Joseph Cantor the mission director, Harmony and Malachi, two homeless people with a story I’m still having a hard time understanding. Harmony’s husband was incarcerated for the same thing I did. That’s why I’m in this stupid program trying to earn 40 credits. If I earn the credits, I will not be shipped to Poksairy 3. They will take away the charge. What a coincidence. What is going on? I can remember like it was yesterday when I got that phone call. The parent called me and said her child had been beaten up by his coach. Not thinking, I drove to the school where the coach was a PE teacher at and beat him until he almost died. Two days later I was locked up. The judge ordered me to be shipped to Poksairy 3 or enter the program. The story made national news. I was supposed to be the first person to enter the program after years of research. However, one of the last things I remember is all the unconscious bodies laying on tables, plugged into the program. Something strange is going on. I can feel it. First, the dream I had the first night at SURC about me being a coach. Ironically now I’m a coach. Second, the situation at SURC before I entered the program, with everyone yelling and screaming saying they know what we are doing. Red lights were flashing in the facility, and loud sirens were going off. Third, why all those people I saw plugged into the program when they said I was the first. Fourth, the last thing Karey said before I entered the program. And last, this Harmony lady I met today. Her husband did the same thing I did in the real world. What’s even stranger is before I got myself into this mess with the authorities, I met a young lady named Harmony a week prior and asked her out on a date. January 13th, 2016 9:22 pm

Amen.  Miguel lays in bed watching Fox news. His cell phone rings. Miguel answers the phone “Hello.” “Hey Miguel this is Carmen, how are you today?” “I’m doing great Carmen, how are you?” “I’m doing fine. We are so excited about you coming to the school today for basketball evaluations. I want to warn you that the 1st and 2nd-graders can be difficult to deal with. I will have two people helping with the evaluations. Your job will be looking for the players you want on your team. We have three 1st and 2nd-grade teams this year. After the evaluation is done, the three coaches will sit down with me and have a draft. The coaches will each have a turn to draft the player of their choice,” Carmen explains. “I’m looking forward to it. What time should I arrive?”, ask Miguel. “We start at 3 pm.” “Great, I will see you promptly at 2:36 pm.” Miguel hangs up the phone and goes to the kitchen. He turns on his laptop and plays a few games of chess while eating cereal. Miguel loved to play chess. He would play 30 to 60 games a day back home in the real world. Inside the program, there was less competition. After several hours of playing chess, he decides to leave and check his P.O. box.

“Good afternoon Mrs. Pat, do I have any mail today?” “Well hello to you Miguel,” says Mrs. Pat. “Hello, Mrs. Pat. I’m sorry. I’m just in a bit of a hurry. Today I start volunteering at Holy Cross.”Child how do you make any income if you’re always volunteering?” ask Mrs. Pat. “I invested my money wisely when I attended college. I pretty much live off my investments now.” “Smart, good-looking, wealthy, and giving, we need to find you a girlfriend fast.” Mrs. Pat walks to the back to check Miguel’s box. “Looks like you have on package; from the same place SURC,” says Mrs. Pat. “Thank you, Mrs. Pat. I will see you later in the week.” Miguel gets in his jeep and opens the package. There is a letter inside. The letter reads, thank you for your service in the program. You have been awarded 5 credits for your performance on January 13th, 2016. Your remaining time in the program is 67 days. Your remaining number of credits to earn is 35. Thanks, Karey Washington.

Miguel pulls up to Holy Cross, the parking lot is full. He enters the gym and kids are running, screaming and shooting the basketball. “Miguel, good to see you!” says Carmen. “Good seeing you again Carmen.” “Alright, in just a moment we will get started. Remember, look for the best players. The better players you pick, the better your odds are for winning, and we like winning,” Carmen says. The evaluations start and Miguel watches each athlete as they do basketball drills. Most of the kids are clueless at playing basketball. However, there are a few that have a knowledge of the game. “I suck. I can’t do anything right. I never should come here,” says a 1st-grader trying to make a bucket. “Hey, little guy, come here. What’s your name?” asked Miguel. “I’m Tanner, Tanner Davenport.” “Tanner, don’t say that. You’re only in the 1st-grade. You have many years to work on your basketball skills. Now, let”s try this again. I want you to shoot the ball until you make it.” “But I can’t do it,” says Tanner. “Just try, come on.” Ok, Ok, OK” Tanner proceeds to shoot the ball. He misses the first 22 shots. Finally, on the 23rd shot, he makes it. “I made it! I made it! I did it,” yells Tanner. “Very good young man. “Now repeat after me. I will. I can. I must.” Tanner replies “I will! I can! I must!” “That’s my boy. Now go play some ball.” After one hour of evaluations, Carmen takes the coaches to the back to start the draft. “Coaches, thank you for coming out today. Before we start, are there any questions or issues that need to be addressed?” “Carmen, I would like to thank you for inviting me to this evaluation. I personally see no need to participate in the draft. I would like to have the opportunity to coach Tanner and any player that does not have the athletic ability or talent to compete on the court. Basically, I want the kids that can’t play at all,” Miguel says nervously. He knows none of the other coaches and stumbles as he talks. “Wow, Miguel, that is awesome! Do either of you have a problem with Miguel requests?” ask Carmen. The coaches don’t have a problem, with Miguel’s request and proceed with the draft.

Miguel looks out of his window at the starry night. The program is amazing, even the stars are aligned the same here in the program. He pulls out his journal and begins to write:

Today I saw children play basketball. They looked so happy. I wonder how happy feels to them. I met a kid named Tanner today. At first, he was acting very negative. After I talked to him he was happy and motivated. They are not real or they? I mean, I am in a program and I feel happy, but I’m real. At least I think I’m real. If I’m real in the real world, am I real in the program? I’m getting too philosophical with myself. I am real. I can feel it. I feel the holy spirit that exists inside of me. I know because the Bible tells me so. I have been in the program six days now. It feels like an eternity. I miss Father Martin. I know he is praying for my safe return. I didn’t get the chance to really get to know the Harmony in the real world. I wonder if she is thinking about me. She probably thinks I forgot about her. Maybe I should go back to the mission and talk more to the Harmony here in the program. She is rather pretty. Her son Malachi looks very sad and lost. I did earn 5 credits that day. Maybe it was because of the conversation I had with Harmony and her son. I’m sure most of the credits were for helping at the mission, but who knows. I’m sure Karey and her team are looking at my overall performance in the program. I think I’ll go back to the mission and find Harmony. Maybe even ask her out on a date. I am rather lonely here in this place. I see now why God made Eve for Adam. January 16th, 2016 11:12 pm
